“Bacas funeral home has helped me and my husband in so many ways to navigate the sudden and unexpected passing of my father in law. Due to very personal reasons we were looking to have my father’s services held a week after his passing. We understood the gravity of the situation and that we may not be able to get what we were looking for, but the staff at Bacas worked endlessly diligently and compassionately to help us plan and execute all of our wishes. We never at any time felt like we were a burden or bothering with our questions, which we had a lot, nor were we made to feel rushed at any point during this process. The office area where we were helped was so comforting and peaceful. The waiting room had such a welcoming feel it instantly put my unsteady heart at ease. The composure, kindness, and compassion of everyone we had interactions with was beyond what I could even possibly imagine it would be during a time like this. Bacas worked seamlessly with our church and gave our father an honorable and beautiful service and military burial. We can not recommend them enough for your needs during such a devastating time. Such a great place and such amazing people.”

“Compassion and communication should be cornerstones of the funeral business. Especially whem dealing with someone who is making arrangements from out of state. Unfortunately, Bacas falls short in both of these areas. My initial interaction with this establishment was good. Sadly, my experience over the following 45 days was lacking in both communication and compassion. It started with the wrong date of death on the paperwork. When I alerted them to the discrepancy I was met with a skeptical response instead of sympathy. I understand if the hospital made a mistake. Things happen. However, it was completely unnecessary to argue with me about this error. It caused me to second guess myself at a very vulnerable time. I was told that the death certificate would be ready in 3-4 weeks and would be mailed per my request. At week 3 I called to follow up since it had yet to arrive. The person I spoke with informed me that the doctor had refused to sign it and they needed to find another doctor to sign it. This was surprising to me as my loved one passed at the hospital, but I accepted it because what else could I do. Then the person I spoke with let me know that they were not allowed to mail the death certificates to me after I was explicitly told they could and would. Out of frustration I used a curse word and was immediately reprimanded. For the record, I did not direct any curse words towards the person. Ultimately the death certificate was signed, generated from the County, and, my loved one one cremated approximately 6 weeks from when they passed. I asked whether I needed an appointment to pick everything up and was told that I did not and I could come pick up everything whenever I was back in town. I arrived shortly after opening and was told that they could release the remains to me, but the woman who was assisting me couldn't relase the certificates because I was a niece (not new news) instead of a closer relation. I was told the person that could release them was potentially out of the office in a town 45 minutes away. When I tried to explain that I was the only family and that I was told an appointment was not needed, I was cut off and talked to in a very condescending way. I immediately started to cry. Turns out the person was available and after about 10 minutes he was able to provide me with everything I needed. I'm giving them 2 stars because there were moments of compassion and communication. They just came after enduring rude interactions with staff, who in my opinion need sensitivity training or need to find a new profession. One side note. They should probably keep tissues in their Arrangement room instead of just hand sanitizer cause I had to use my shirt to wipe away my tears.”
