“We had an unexpected death due to complications during a hospital stay - without local burial plots. Our family had plots in Chicago's Queen of Heaven Cemetery, but Wausau has been home for a long time. The reality of burying a loved one so far from immediate family and close friends stared at us in the face. We quickly decided to stay local, but our visits to other local faith-based cemeteries left us disappointed as they were so overcrowded. One visit to and a glance at Restlawn was all it took. This was a cold weather situation in November and the courteous and knowledgeable staff there assured us they could find us plots (we wanted family plots) and make the burial happen even if it snowed. The pricing is higher than other local cemeteries, but in our opinion, well worth it and makes sense based on the long-term management plan and policies of the cemetery – which keeps the plots and memorials well-spaced with open buffer zones throughout, with plenty of additional acreage for future (non-crowded) expansion). Their pricing is straight forward, and they build in discounts for multiple burial plot purchases which they explained and applied to maximize savings for us. Our burial happened in short order, it did not snow, and Restlawn’s ability to meet the funeral home’s date and time needs allowed God to shine his perpetual light upon our loved one that day in this beautiful cemetery. I have visited often throughout this winter of 2025-2026 and have marveled at their staff as they clear plots, heat the soil to allow excavation, and enable even subzero temperature burials to happen as if it was summer.”
