Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Combre Memorial Park, circa 1952 In 1952, Doretha D. Combre acquired ten acres of land on Opelousas St. in Lake Charles, LA and dedicated it as Combre Memorial Park. Mrs. Combre was a committed businesswoman who had previously established Combre Funeral Home in 1940. Building on her comprehensive vision of the funeral industry Mrs. Combre had a desire to acquire enough land that would serve the needs of the Lake Charles community for decades to come. A civil rights leader she was elected President of the Louisiana Chapter of NAACP. She was instrumental in integrating many of the schools in the state most notably McNeese State University in Lake Charles. In honor of her service and vision, Combre Memorial Park continues on our path to creating a cemetery the community can be proud of. A mass grave of 96 unidentified victims of Hurricane Audrey, which struck the Cameron coast in June 1957, is located in the cemetery. Lake Charles Principal Ralph Clifton Reynaud, who is also buried at Combre Cemtery, received a certificate of merit from National Red Cross for service rendered during Hurricane Audrey. Warren Combre, son of Doretha Combre, also assisted in the mass burial.”
