“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The office woman, Carolyn, has to be one of the rudest people our family has ever had to deal with. She has been extremely rude and aggressive when speaking with members of our family as well as the monument company that created the headstone for my father in law. It was so bad, my husband had to speak to Mark, the general manager, just to get the issue resolved. An issue that she created by failing to keep her paperwork in order. When we initially spoke to them about the headstone, we were told it would be $4,000 for them to do the headstone. We chose to go with a monument company due to Carolyn's treatment of my husband and his sister. We paid about half the price they quoted us, and it was with the same maker of the headstone, exact same headstone they would have had made. We were told up front that there would be a charge of approximately $350 to place the headstone, payable to Honaker, once it was ready to be placed. Now that it is ready to be placed, the price has jumped up to over $600. If my father in law had not already had a plot at Honaker, we would have placed him to rest in another cemetery, simply based on the treatment from the beginning. While we would like to buried with our other family members that have went before us, there is no way would leave the burden of dealing with these people to our child. Being in the business of death, you would think the people who work there would be honest and compassionate. That is not the case!”
