Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

One thing I would like to mention is that if your loved one was on Medicaid or had other circumstances that may qualify them for assistance, you could be able to get assistance from the county for this. I did not know this until AFTER I paid and they do NOT reimburse. You must apply for this prior to signing with the funeral home and they pay the funeral home directly. I wanted to share that info in the hopes of someone else not making that same mistake I did. No one tells you these things!”
