“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I used Good Shepherd Pet Services in Conover, NC for my pet’s cremation. Communication was extremely disappointing. I only received phone calls when additional services were being offered for purchase. When I called to ask about shipping, I was told someone was out shipping him and that I would receive a tracking number by text. I never received that tracking information. After waiting three days, I contacted my veterinarian and learned that my pet had already been delivered. When the package arrived, the outer box was filthy with a substance spilled on it. I paid for a paw print keepsake, but only the name is visible. Most upsetting, when I opened the wooden urn, the cremated remains were loose inside and leaking. This experience was extremely distressing during an already painful time. I am sharing this so others are aware of my experience.”

“If you are looking for an stress-free cremation process for your animal please do not use Good Shepard. This company used to be run so smoothly and the staff was always very kind and empathetic. Scott was a favorite among so many before he left. I am a veterinary professional at a hospital who uses and has used good shepard for years for their cremation services. Recently my family dog passed away and we elected to have his remains sent to good shepard. Their staff has contacted us twice asking for payment when we had already relayed to them this was a staff pet. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my doggy passed away and his remains have been waiting there this whole time without being returned to me because they “forgot” to mark him as a staff pet to be returned. I called up there today and spoke to a woman who told me “I don’t know what happened there, I don’t work in that department.” It seems their staff is incapable of adapting to changes in their environment and therefore is causing my family and I so much more added anxiety and stress.
