“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I can't say that I recommend this place. The two people I talked to throughout the process were nice enough and very responsive, but there were a few issues. Even though my deceased loved one pre-paid her cremation and put my name and address down to receive her ashes, they still acted hesitant to give me them, since I'm not next of kin. First, they said they needed to see her advance directive that I was on, which makes no sense, since she isn't alive. Next, they almost released the ashes to next of kin, despite me being the one on the paperwork, AND me stressing to them to NOT give the ashes to that person when they were received from the crematorium. They also charge $275 to mail the ashes out of state, which is an absolutely exploitative upcharge, as it only costs somewhere around ~ $115 via the required USPS priority express. They also had a large charge for mailing the death certificates, somewhere around $25, which also isn't ok. Please do better next time and follow the deceased person's wishes without question. Not everyone wants their ashes to go to their next of kin.”
