“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“When the family is sitting down in your office for the first time to plan their loved ones burial, their loved one who dropped dead out of the blue with no warning, which leaves a person no time to even try and mentally prepare for the loss they are about to face with the death of their family member (not that you can every truly prepare to loose someone who meant everything to you)...its probably best not to start the meeting with some BS about keeping family members together and for such and such time you will offer a discount or whatever BS it was, I was to in shock at what I was hearing to fully grasp the details of your payment plan....dont start the meeting by trying to sell plots and make more money then your already making on the passing of our loved one. Then she pulled out a map, and pointed out these plots were for sale and these ones and they cost $2500 all together or whatever ridiculous price you sell your plots for. Luckily someone mentioned maybe we could plan our burial sites and talk money for the plots AFTER we were done with the arrangements for our family member who was currently dead, which is why we were there. That was TACKY, that was insensitive, it was rude and horrible. If you cant be sensitive first, and a business second, go make your wealth in another type of business. I would advise people to steer clear of all things related to this business, i.e., tombstones, caskets, their cemetery, I think they have a cremation business, etc (basically they have a monopoly on death in shawnee county). Unless you dont care that your deceased family member is just $ to them and they cant even fake sympathy...if thats ok with you, then go ahead and use them.”
