“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We used this Funeral Home twice, the first one should’ve been a sign to not use them again. My family was rushed due to another service starting after, but many felt the insensitivity during this difficult time. You’d think with them doing funerals, that they would be consistent, but one service we were able to lower our loved one and the other we were told no? Then when I asked why we were unable to lower our other loved one during their service they stated that sometimes their equipment doesn’t work properly so they’re unable to do that. Why would they use faulty equipment first off? They said they would follow up and get back to me as to why our other loved one wasn’t lowered (that was 2 weeks ago and 0 communication from them.) You’d think they’d communicate to the party who is covering the costs of the service but since that party wasn’t the Next of Kin they decided they didn’t need to communicate anything but they were quick to communicate when it came time for their pay day. Also, for them being educated, you’d think there would be minimal grammar errors on the Obituaries, but you can spot them. Yes the family does review them, but as a business some of those shouldn’t even be up for discussion. Honestly the 2 ladies I spoke with were the only positive experience I had, but for the gentlemen that works there, he could never speak with me or face me which in my opinion was unprofessional. He would come and see what I needed and then someone else would return to finish our conversation. I strongly recommend everyone to look into the other Funeral Home in the area rather than Swaim. Your loved ones deserve that.”
