“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“It’s been a year since my grandmother’s funeral, and I still feel disappointed with how my family was treated by the funeral director. My mother, her siblings, my grandfather, and everyone else present were met with a lack of empathy and care that felt out of place during such a difficult time and from someone in this profession. There was no one to welcome guests as they arrived to pay their respects, and the obituary wasn’t handed out—my mom couldn’t even find a copy before the service began (we did find them afterwards, haphazardly tossed on a side table). The service itself felt rushed, with the director eager to “flip” the room for the next service, leaving little space for us to properly say goodbye. At the time, I wondered if my reaction was heightened by the emotions of the moment. But even now, a year later, I feel strongly that the experience fell far short of what grieving families deserve. I hope this feedback serves as an opportunity for the funeral home to improve so that others don’t have to go through a similar experience.”

“I want to thank John Gridsamore for completing an awesome service for my sister Julie A. Swords. The process was March 10-14th, 2016, he helped me through everything since I was living outside the state. That provides such a comfort when going through a family loss. He's down to earth and knows how to make you feel welcome. He fills the gaps that you feel you may have missed and makes you feel apart of his family. I would recommend him to anyone who would like to feel like your working with family while preparing a service for a loved one, rather than a stranger collecting payment. A big thank you to John for everything you've done. Everything you have done is appreciated!”

“I was extremely impressed with how well they handled my grandpa’s funeral from beggining to end. Very professional, empathetic, and experienced. Would highly recommend.”
