Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Bennie Smith Funeral Home offered a great experience during a challenging time. My dad died at 8:15 PM. By 9:30 PM, I had successfully reached the funeral home to begin the process of having his body picked up. They said a funeral director would call the next morning. Jewel Tatuem called at 9:05 AM. That started a week of consistent communication with her as we made plans for the viewings and funeral. She was quick to respond via text, email and phone. She was patient and showed compassion throughout the planning stages. Jewel arranged a pre-viewing so that we could approve of how my dad looked in the casket. I wanted his hair combed differently and Jewel had it taken care of before the public viewing. The flower arrangements, cards and portrait all looked great. The local staff at the Bennie Hill Funeral Home in Easton were also quite helpful. They made sure everyone signed the registry and wore masks.
