“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“They told me I had to pay an extra $200.00 for afterhours service for picking up my Mom. They said their hours were 8 to 5 They were called at 4:00 p.m. and it took them 2 and a half hours to get Mom. I told them I would not pay that, it was not my fault it took them 2 and half hours to come. Mom and Dad had bought the cremation service from them many years ago. They said they couldn't find the paperwork so I would have to pay again. Then when I told them I had the original copy they said Oh yes here it is we have it. Don't use them.”

“We arranged for the cremation and paid in full. Now the ashes are being held for ransom. They called 8 days after payment asking for SS number that they could not find on their paperwork. Said that if we wanted cremation done sooner we would have to pay$450 extra. We had to return home and was told that the shipment would normally cost extra, but the fee would be waived. Now they have called saying that the shipment would not be waived and that we would not get the remains sent with out paying another$150-. This feels like extortion and comes at a terrible time. Our emotionally distraught disabled daughter is experiencing extreme distress and panic. What kind of insensitive monsters are operating this funeral business.”
