“Do you accept insurance assignment?”

“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My father was in hospice at Edwards hospital and the hospital told us they would hold his body for 24 hours. We needed to quickly find a funeral home and make arrangements. After 2 other funeral homes in the Downers Grove area blew us off on Sunday morning we got in touch with Adams Winterfield and Sullivan. Within 2 hours we were at the funeral home. Another hour later the arrangements were finalized. Terry's family has been running funeral homes for 4 generations. Many of the funeral homes in the area are ran by large corporations and the level of service did not appear to be the same. The funeral home itself has 2 large viewing areas that are decorated nicely and maintained very well. There are 2 large well-appointed kitchen areas. Their pricing is well below the national average. Considering the level of service and the nicely appointed funeral home we felt like we got way more than what we paid for. I highly recommend this funeral home.”
