“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”

“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My father passed away from terminal camcer. We were children of his first marriage. A "stepchild" overseeing his affairs (since we lived in a different state) viciously told my dad if he had anything more to do with us, that she would no longer speak to him. When my dad died, this funeral home added to our grief by not even having the decency to give us an obituary because that illegitimate relative told them not to. My sister and I provided proof of legal family relationship and begged them for at least an obituary. This funeral home withheld that information (obituary of his interment) to this very day. We were not able to pay or respects and grieve properly. When we first requested information, they pretended like they were going to give it to us, then withheld it. There was no sympathy or compassion. Don't recommend them.”
