Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”

“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“They did a nice job caring for my mom. The cost for basic cremation and no service was $2627. The staff were very quick to respond and kind. For an older person who is not tech savvy the docu-sign may be a challenge. The other issue is the 4 page list of pricing that came at least twice in the paperwork that I had to sign off on. It wasn't terribly time consuming but looking through a 4 page price list among the other paperwork was the last thing I wanted to do after my mom died. Thank you for caring of my mom.
