Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This cemetery is a dump, literally. All of the sidewalks that border it are covered in trash, overgrown grass, and abandoned vehicles. It looks like it is a magnet for illegal dumping. I suspect it is contributing to and attracting blight in the surrounding neighborhoods. The cemetery is supposed to maintain the public sidewalks that border it, just as homeowners are supposed to maintain the sidewalks that front their homes. If you want to go to a nice cemetery in Oakland, visit Mountain View. Avoid this one.”

I was sad that it was so difficult to find them, I spent an hour and a half looking for one great grandmother because I was pointed in the wrong direction by the office staff. Some areas seemed to be uncared for. And that everything was so dry and desolate looking.”
