“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“At first, she seemed sympathetic and rushed through it like she didn’t have time. I didn’t have any money up front but being there was a small life insurance she went ahead with the service. Received his ashes a month after his death. She said she kept waiting on the urn. I just wanted to take my son home, why do I need the urn to have his ashes? Anyway, when I finally went to get them, she wasn’t there so I waited 20 or more minutes. She came into the room, sat down and threw her papers and pen and said “we have a problem, I need money and I need it now” uuuuum ok! She knew Gerber was handling that but she said there were red flags. I assured her that I can’t rush Gerber and found out that she needed another signature from other parent. I handed her some cash and she gave me my son and I left. I was upset cuz she already put his ashes in his urn which I wanted to do. How do I know they are actually his? I don’t recommend this home unless you’re on a budget. I don’t trust her nor do I like the way I was treated. I lost my only son (very emotional) and she made me feel like he was just another paycheck. I don’t hate her cuz that is wrong but maybe she should find a different career change.”
